Immigration DNA Testing
Immigration DNA Testing Procedures for Visa and Passport Applicants:
All DNA testing services related to immigration procedures are closely coordinated with the Department of State and Consular Section of the U.S. embassies worldwide.
Lab staff coordinates the handling of international shipments, including providing the necessary customs clearance forms and forwarding of the test kit to the U.S. embassy.
When the embassy receives the testing kit the test participants will be contacted by letter or telephone and schedule an appointment date for the DNA test.
A physician selected by the embassy or the family will collect a sample from the test participant(s), usually in the presence of a consular official. Notary services are provided by the U.S. embassy.
All samples collected in the U.S. and abroad are then shipped to an American Association of Blood Banks (AABB)-accredited DNA parentage testing laboratory.
